The Mary Baker Eddy Library for the Betterment of Humanity
In her true light . . .
A look at the newly published writings of Mary Baker Eddy
Mary Baker Eddy wrote this letter just a few days after celebrating Thanksgiving in 1890, though Christian Science Thanksgiving church services were not instituted until over a decade later, in 1902. Joseph Eastaman, the recipient, had been a sea captain for over 20 years before turning to Christian Science to find healing for his sick wife. He went through Mrs. Eddy's Primary class in 1884, and during this instruction he did heal his wife. Both later became practitioners and teachers of Christian Science.
