Immediate prayer makes a difference
Early one school-day morning, I was preparing my daughter's lunch. I was holding her thermos with one hand while pouring boiling water from the kettle with the other. The scalding water poured all over my left hand.
Immediately I set the thermos and the kettle down. I'll never forget that moment and how readily and naturally I refused to believe that I'd been harmed. I felt strong and peaceful. I wrapped my hand in a dry dish towel and sat down to study the Weekly Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly.
Not once did I feel any pain or fear. And as I began to read, I realized that my true identity—the way God made me—was spiritual, and this understanding filled me so that I knew there was really nothing to be healed. I removed the towel and resumed packing my daughter's lunch.
