Effective prayer
When I was a teenager in Sunday School, I had a healing that showed me the practical nature of prayer.
On the bottom of my foot I had a large plantar wart. I didn't tell anyone about it, and I wasn't sure how to pray for myself, so it remained there for several weeks.
When walking became painful, I decided to listen for some thoughts from God. Then I heard a surprising but clear direction to "wash my feet." I knew this wasn't a literal instruction, but encouragement to do what Jesus had done when he washed his disciples' feet. I can still remember the love I felt when I realized that I was being directed to let God's healing power wash away anything that didn't come to me from Him. I realized that the wart wasn't part of my spiritual nature any more than dirt would be part of my foot. Constantly knowing that I had a Godlike nature was a really happy kind of prayer, and soon the wart completely disappeared.
