'SHE HAD A FIRM SPIRITUAL CONFIDENCE . . .'
Billy Causey, now superintendent of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, recalls his wife's shark attack:
I heard my son screaming in this little voice, "A shark is eating my mommy!" I looked up and my immediate response was one of rescue.
Laurie was treading water with one flipper, and the shark was attached to her other leg. I dove down to grab the shark, and she wrapped her legs around me. I was a little concerned because she had a pretty strong lock around my neck.
