On the battlefield and in his own backyard

A Vietnam veteran conquers fear and uncertainty.

John West Of Dayton, Ohio, is a US Marine Corps combat veteran who served in Vietnam. An auto mechanic, he later became a high-school vocational teacher and was a volunteer probation officer for juvenile court, as well as a scoutmaster for an inner-city Boy Scout troop. He is now a Christian healer.

In a recent Sentinel Radio broadcast, he was asked how he prays to alleviate fear and uncertainly, especially in these troubled times.

There are lots of lifelines to hold on to, such as prayer. When Jesus' disciples asked him how to pray, his instruction, in essence, was to go into a "closet" of quietness and close the door—to pray "in secret"; and the deliverance, he said, would come openly [see Matt. 6:6].
