"JUDGE NOT..."
Unexpected visitor in the parking lot
One evening it was necessary for me to visit our local shopping center just at closing time. After parking the car, I noticed that I had pulled up alongside a big, very ornate motorcycle. I thought no more about it until I returned to my car and found that my vehicle and the motorbike were the only ones left in the car park. I felt alarmed. There had been several distressing incidents in that particular parking area. Women had been attacked, and one had been abducted with horrific results.
Remembering this, I began hurriedly stowing my groceries in my car. As I did, I thought of God's ever-presence and this line from one of my favorite hymns: "My presence still shall go with thee / And I will give thee peace" (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 136). I also recalled this statement from the Christian Science textbook: "Spirit is symbolized by strength, presence, and power, and also by holy thoughts, winged with Love" (Science and Health, p. 512).
At that moment a very dirty, unshaven man returned to his motorcycle. He climbed on board and circled me and my car before driving off. As I was about to close the trunk of the car, the bike pulled up right beside me.
