Need for oral surgery eliminated
The following healing took place after my dentist informed me that he would be unable to do any further work on my teeth until I agreed to see a specialist. It wasn't the first time that he had recommended this, but this time he was so insistent that I agreed to follow his advice. The specialist's opinion was that I should have surgery immediately. When the appointment was being made, the nurse commented that I shouldn't worry, because these operations are nearly always successful.
As I left the office, however, I couldn't believe what I had done. Throughout the years, Christian Science had met all my needs. I didn't want to have surgery; I wanted to heal this difficulty with prayer. The following morning I telephoned and canceled the appointment. Then I began to pray in earnest. I really felt good about this.
During the next three months, whenever this condition entered my thought, I prayed using powerful statements from Science and Health. One of my favorites was, "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive" (p. 463). And it did. When I returned to the dentist for a routine visit, X-rays were taken. There was nothing there—no evidence at all of the diffi culty the dentist had been so concerned about.
