YOUR REAL JOB
What if we don't know what our purpose in life is or how it should be expressed? We discover it by listening and responding to God. God is constantly communicating to us, impelling us to be what He made us to be. We need but humbly listen and follow the leadings that always come from God in ways we can understand.
For several years I had been praying to know my purpose. After twenty years of fulltime mothering and regularly doing some writing, I felt I needed a new outlet for selfexpression. I felt impelled to apply for a parttime position teaching kindergarten that I had learned about in a most unusual way. The details fell into place so consistently and gently that the whole idea felt divinely provided. I delightedly accepted the position and spent much time eagerly preparing for my new students.
Once into the job, however, I became quite disillusioned and disappointed. I felt a nagging sadness in having left my homemaking career behind. It seemed as though a tight bridle restrained my freedom. The students were difficult, and keeping them under control was not easy. Besides this, I truly missed having time to write.
