Full mobility restored
My family had found it necessary to make a trip out of state, and I was home alone. During their absence, it became difficult for me to walk. I was attending business school, and it was necessary for me to take a bus partway and then transfer to a street car. After several days I was unable to negotiate the steps up into the streetcar. During this period I asked a Christian Scientist friend to pray for me, but when I didn't receive any relief, I didn't ask for additional treatment.
When my mother returned home, I told her that I would like to see an osteopath. One of my grandmothers had been an osteopathic physician, and I felt that I knew exactly what was wrong—that one adjustment would solve the whole problem. My mother lovingly took me to a doctor, who did indeed do an adjustment. Instead of the immediate improvement that I had anticipated, however, the condition deteriorated, and I had to take to my bed.
Then my mother asked if I would like her to call my Sunday School teacher (who was a Christian Science practitioner) and ask for treatment through prayer. I was relieved and happy to make the decision to rely on Christian Science. The practitioner came to our home and reminded me of some of the spiritual truths we had discussed in Sunday School: God is All and is good; man is His perfect child; God is Life; man expresses Life's perfect activity; there is nothing anywhere that can separate man from God.
