Swelling and inflammation healed

Recently I was visiting my youngest daughter, her husband, and their four children for a week. I was looking forward to doing much grandmothering.

All went well for about four days with work and playtime. Then I woke one morning with a very swollen knee that made walking very difficult. My daughter had enough to do without my complicating the situation, although she very lovingly wanted to make me comfortable. I was able to contact a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. She encouraged me to recognize that I could never be beyond the reach of Christ's help. That was what I needed. Also, she reminded me that inflammation and swelling are manifestations of fear, and assured me that I could know that God's loving care was right there for me.

I had taken a copy of The Christian Science Journal with me and found an article that was very helpful. It showed how to deny the thought that a material body can be an authority over my health, to rejoice that all creation is the outcome of divine Spirit and is governed by a loving God, and to see that there is no element of creation that is outside His control or capable of causing harm.
