Able to breathe without difficulty

"In atmosphere of Love divine,/We live, and move, and breathe" are the opening words of a hymn in the Christian Science Hymnal (No. 144) that sum up a significant healing I experienced recently. My wife and I had traveled out of the country to spend the holidays with our son and his wife. On the day we arrived, we went for a walk around a botanical park. When we returned to our son's home, I experienced some difficulty in breathing. I prayed earnestly to see that no error could interrupt our visit. By bedtime, however, I was no better, but considerably worse. I telephoned a Christian Science practitioner in the United States and asked for treatment. And I continued to pray to see the reality of my being and not the mortal mind picture being presented. I also read that week's Lesson-Sermon, which included part of the answer to the question "What is man?" in Science and Health. The passage reads, "Man is idea, the image, of Love; he is not physique" (p. 475). This spiritual truth enabled me to be more at peace and to breathe a little more easily.

When I awoke at four the next morning, I was free of the problem.
