Work relationship is improved
A new president was appointed where I worked, who decided that I was unacceptable and informed me that he was going to look for someone to either replace me or come into the operation above me. He indicated that if I stayed, my salary would be substantially reduced, which was of concern because I had children about ready to go to college. It appeared that there was no way for me to alter the decision, and my prospects of finding a similar job if I left under these circumstances were not good.
I called a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, and during our conversation she mentioned that my goal was to live "the fruit of the Spirit" (see Gal. 5:22, 23) more each day. As a result, I endeavored each day to let more love, joy, peace—more of "the fruit of the Spirit"—shine forth in my life. I also prayed to express more thoroughness and preciseness, which I saw as qualities of Principle and therefore God-bestowed on me and all. This was a challenging time, however.
The concept of man's oneness with God and his nature as the reflection of God was also helpful. I understood more clearly that God was causing me to do my part, and therefore whatever I was to do, it would be done well. This helped remove the fear of not being able to accomplish what needed to be done. I also was learning that God was my employer, that I could never be separated from right activity or any good. Useful activity and right place and action are determined by God, and not by bosses, corporate headquarters, or economic conditions. I was becoming more convinced that I could never be separated from the love of God, which included all necessary elements of good, and that this truth extended to all, including my family. This truth helped remove the fear of not being able to provide for my family.
