COMMUNITY WATCH
The perfect place
"If we don't find happiness by moving, how do we find it?"
Have you ever thought, "If I could just get out of this place, away from this neighborhood, or this town, life would be so much better"? Or "I'd be a lot happier if I lived in a cleaner (or safer or sunnier or more exciting) community"? Since my college days, I've moved half a dozen times, always expecting life to be better in my new home. Yet each time I've found that simply moving from one location to another hasn't made me happy.
So if we don't find happiness by moving, how do we find it? Through an ever clearer understanding of God, and of our place and purpose within His spiritual universe.
I learned more about everyone's place in God's universe while my husband and I were living and working in a former Soviet Bloc country. The differences between our native country and our new home were enormous and occasionally overwhelming. The few Westerners living in our community were constantly pointing out what they saw as negative aspects of this location. I knew that I had a choice to make. I could either go along with the crowd, or I could seek God's view of things.
