The jar of spiders
KRISTEN was eight years old, and summer was one of her favorite times of the year. She and her family lived where there were lots of fields, ponds, and forests. There were wonderful places to explore and new things to discover.
It was always a great adventure—whether they were following a new path through the forest, building a raft to float across the pond, constructing a fort, or collecting and studying the many different kinds of bugs and other creepycrawlies found near her house.
Kristen's brother was very good at thinking of new adventures for them and their friends. He also loved animals and was clever at catching them—frogs, spiders, beetles, snakes, field mice . . . You name it—he probably could find it! And he taught Kristen so much about these little creatures: for instance, not to be afraid to touch them and hold them.
