MILLENNIUM WATCH
How about having a good millennium?
"We don't have to wait for a special date to experience more good in our lives."
It would be hard not to be aware of the coming millennium, whether you think it begins with the year 2000, or 2001. For some, the millennium has major overtones of fear and menace. Others look for the advent of a whole new world order and a new (or renewed) sense of morality and responsibility. Some people don't see the arrival of 2000 as making any difference at all.
A millennium is simply a period of one thousand years. In this sense, the year 2000 is no more significant than 1999 or 1527, except that it's a nice, round number. The millennium concept has evolved through the centuries, however, to include the religious connotation of a thousand-year period of the kingdom of heaven on earth, the reign of peace and harmony among people under divine rule.
Achieving this, however, can't be imposed from without. It must begin in the hearts of individuals, families, churches—in people of faith, prayer, and compassion—and this is where it must be constantly nurtured.
