MARY BAKER EDDY'S MESSAGE & HER LIFE PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER

Excerpts from a Q&A session with biographer Gillian Gill

Gillian Gill is the author of Mary Baker Eddy, a comprehensive biography of the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. Recently, she spoke at a conference about the demand to gain a better understanding of Mrs. Eddy's life and her message. Dr. Gill holds a Ph.D. from Cambridge University. She has taught at Wellesley College and at Yale and Harvard Universities. (Dr. Gill is not a Christian Scientist.)

These are extracts from the question-and-answer session at the conference. Since Dr. Gill was speaking informally to a specific and prepared audience, she has slightly edited the text of the transcription for the general reader.

Why is it important to talk about Mrs. Eddy's life? Isn't the important thing to communicate her message?
