Inflamed growth removed through prayer

A while ago I discovered a growth on my leg. I had been praying, and thinking a lot about a question in one of Mary Baker Eddy's poems: "Felt ye the power of the Word?" ("Communion Hymn," Poems, p. 75). I was able to turn immediately to the fact that this problem was not made by the Word of God. I realized I didn't have to consent to mortal mind's pictures. I resolved to speak the Word of God to it every time it clamored for attention.

This verse from Psalms was very helpful: "Thy hands have made me and fashioned me" (119:73). I pondered this verse and found reassurance, reasoning that God has made me in His likeness, expressing His nature and substance, the substance of Spirit, and that matter had no power to fashion me or refashion me. Therefore, I affirmed, there could be no growth except for what Spirit forms.

These truths enabled me to silence fear or anxiousness of any kind. I needed to be steadfast and persistent, however, because the growth appeared to grow larger and become more inflamed.
