HEALTH & HEALING
Keep your eye on the ball
"The muscles which had begun to diminish have returned to their original size and condition."
Prayer that heals the sick is wonderful. Healing should be quick, as well. After all, quick is the nature of God's word (see Heb. 4:12). But what about healing that takes longer than we'd like? What can help us in such times?
For one thing, it is important to stay focused on our prayer and not get distracted. It's a bit like playing baseball. When a batter steps up to the plate, he or she has to shut out lots of distractions—outfielders chanting, a base runner stealing a base, fans calling from the stands. Through all of this, the batter must concentrate only on what the pitcher is doing. In short, the batter needs to keep an eye on the ball.
We can keep our eye on the ball in prayer by staying focused on the spiritual truths that come to us from God, by refusing to be distracted by the problem or by discouragement and impatience.
