Woman conquers back trouble
Translated from German
Ever since becoming acquainted with Christian Science, I have learned to trust in the fact that God governs my life and that God is the source of all good, all supply, health, life, and love.
Over the years, my appreciation for a spiritually oriented life has continually deepened, and along with it my gratitude for Christian Science. Through prayer, I have experienced many physical healings, one of which I'd like to relate here.
One day I had such severe pain in my back that I could neither sit, stand, nor lie down. Science and Health explains that inflammation is based on fear (see, for example, pages 414-415). It is fear that would prevent us from feeling God's love and blessing and from experiencing His salvation, or healing. Fear must be overcome—and it can be, through prayer. In my own situation, which lasted for three days, I felt at times incapable of praying very deeply, until I realized clearly that pain operates hypnotically. It would try to get us to deny spiritual being—even to deny God. I recognized that this mesmerism is a delusion.
