God meets our needs
We can count on His care—every step of the way.
A FRIEND GAVE ME the generous gift of going to Hawaii with her. Below our condo was an idyllic private beach appropriately named "Hideaway."
The only hitch in being able to enjoy what the beach had to offer—beauty, crystal-clear, warm Pacific waters, and good snorkeling—was getting there and back. The path was long and extremely steep. While my athletic friend was able to walk it like a romp through the park, it represented Mount Everest to me. For over seven years I had spent most of my time sitting at my desk, working at a job I love. Descending to the beach wasn't the problem, but the climb back up was daunting. My friend remained behind to do some more snorkeling, so I started up the pathway on my own.
Partway up the trail, I found it so challenging that I stopped to have a talk with God and to remember these comforting words from Science and Health: "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (p.494). "Father," I prayed, "I have a need here. I need one of Your angels to help me!" I knew without a doubt I would get an answer to meet my specific need. I knew I would have quick evidence of the presence of Christ, the message of divine Truth.
