Healed of painful boil and head injury
A quick healing took place for me as I applied what I had learned from this pearl of spiritual insight: "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness" (Isa. 41:10). When I was my late teens, a boil appeared on the bottom of my spine. I couldn't sit or walk and was confined to bed. One evening, one of my visitors became very worried and told me that if I didn't see a doctor, I would die, as he felt I had symptoms of blood poisoning.
I asked to be alone. Although I had been praying, I could see that I needed to trust God more deeply, and I began to pray with ideas from that verse in Isaiah. Before long I fell asleep. In the morning the symptoms that had alarmed my friend were gone, the boil had drained, and I was well enough to get up and do all that I wanted to do, free from pain or discomfort. God was my strength in this healing, and I trusted His care completely. In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy points out, "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings" (p. vii). I was sustained and my trust was blessed with quick and permanent healing.
The pearls of divine Truth that come to our receptive thought enable us to pray with conviction. I thank God every day for this healing and for all the pearls that I have found in my study and that have led to numerous healings.
