FORGIVENESS: A NATURAL RESPONSE

I learned an important lesson in forgiving when I worked in a department store. One evening on my way to take a short break from the sales floor, I entered an area that was being remodeled. Just as I did so, the manager of that department angrily confronted me, yelling that no one was allowed to enter that area and that I should leave immediately.

I left his department at once, livid. Had I been told to avoid that area, I would have willingly complied, but there were no warning signs. His reprimand seemed totally unjustified.

I was still very upset when I returned to my department, so I entered a small office to pray and humbly to listen for what God wanted me to do. I began to reason that God had created me as well as all of His children to express His love. I prayed to perceive man made in God's image and saw that I need not react with anger or resentment to something God could never create. Yielding my thought in this manner to divine Love, I soon felt Love's warm embrace.
