Q A

If God created us in His image, and He's perfect, then we must also be an extension of that. What made us fall? I'm new to Christian Science.

The man God made hasn't fallen. If it were otherwise, then we'd have to assume that God made some mistakes with His creation; that His offspring are faulty, destined to fall. Such a view of creation assumes that what God formed is somehow a mixture of matter and spirit, and whatever is material is inherently limited and corruptible. Yet, in truth, God's creation is entirely spiritual. The Bible describes man as made in the image and likeness of God. God is Spirit, all-knowing, all-seeing, all-wise, omnipotent, omnipresent—perfect in every way. The spiritual image and likeness of a perfect God must be, and is, perfect. It is this spiritual and scientific truth, understood, that makes the healing of sin and disease possible. And it is this same spiritual truth that fulfills the promise of one of Christ Jesus' most inspiring statements: "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."
