Prayer from the heart of the workplace ...

Dear Father ...

Silence the arrogance that says "It's me"—
Give me humility to know "It's Thee!"
Devalue that superior "I'm best"
With satisfaction's guarantee, "I'm blessed!"

Help me to see my fellows as I should,
My vantage point our common brotherhood;
Not looking down from pedestal of pride,
But on a level, equal, side by side.

Let me appreciate the work of others—
You will not bless my gift and spurn my brother's!
We are not adversaries in a race,
But each is honored, each uniquely placed.

With every stain of pride and fear removed
I bring my work to You to be approved.
Of mine own self can nothing good be done,
But all is possible as God's own son.

Then show me, through transparency of grace,
Your own reflection in my brother's face,
So all that lie between us when we part
Are thoughts of kindness, bonding heart to heart.

Your loving child...
