Dear Sentinel,

Once I went sledding with my dad and my friend Katlyn. Katlyn wanted to sled over a bump so we could go flying in the air. She went down first. When I came sledding down after her, I saw that the bump was bigger than I thought. I went sailing over it and hit the ground very hard. I hit my back on the edge of the sled. It hurt.

My dad rushed over to ask me if I was OK. I told him my back hurt. He took good care of me and asked me what my favorite hymn is. I told him it's the one that talks about the Shepherd ("'Feed My Sheep,'" by Mary Baker Eddy in the Christian Science Hymnal). So Dad began to say the words to me: "Shepherd, show me how to go/O'er the hillside steep." Remembering about the steep hillside in the poem made us smile! The verse ends, "I will follow and rejoice / All the rugged way." Dad explained that we're like the sheep and God is the Shepherd. I knew that God guides me over every hill, and that He would never let anything happen to me. After that I felt better. I spent another hour sledding down that hill!
