It's time I bring my tithes to the storehouse

It's time I bring my tithes to the storehouse. Here are two experiences that happened several years ago that continue to bless me.

I had brought home a bag of various items from a dime store and had set it on the floor while I took off my coat. My oldest daughter, who was not yet two at the time, walked right over to the bag, reached in, and pulled out a bottle of insecticide. The lid was fastened improperly, and the liquid insecticide splashed into her face and eyes. I grabbed her up and rushed her to the bathroom sink and ran cold water on her eyes and face. Then I put her down in the living room, where she started walking in circles wailing. I wanted to pray, but I was absolutely panicked by the thought of the poison in her eyes. I couldn't think of a thing. So I opened Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy and began reading aloud. I had opened the book to the beginning of the chapter "Animal Magnetism Unmasked."

My daughter was a lively young toddler, and at that time in her life she wouldn't sit still to look through a simple children's book. As I read, however, she stopped crying, came over to the sofa, and laid her little head on it. She turned her face toward me and smiled the sweetest smile. She stayed there listening quietly until I had finished reading all seven pages of the chapter. She was calm and happy, and her eyes were perfectly clear without a trace of redness from the insecticide, or the tap water, or the crying. That was the end of the incident; there were no further bad effects.
