Several years ago my wife and I found our circumstances changing quite drastically. We had quit our jobs and moved to a different state. I started a new business, and we bought a house. We didn't jump into these decisions lightly. They were the result of consecrated prayer to God and listening for His direction. So as we went forward with these many changes, we had the conviction that God was supporting us.

Several months after our move, however, my wife still had not been able to find permanent employment, and my income was negligible. To make matters worse, our savings were running low. I remember one day during this time rather vividly. I was sitting at my desk praying with some ideas on supply while paying the bills. Fear was overtaking me as I realized there would be less than fifty dollars in the checking account after paying what we owed.

To calm my fears, I prayed to understand more clearly how I was included in God's love for His children. One passage from Miscellaneous Writings by Mary Baker Eddy gave me a great deal of comfort. It reads: "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies. Never ask for to-morrow: it is enough that divine Love is an ever-present help; and if you wait, never doubting, you will have all you need every moment" (p. 307).
