My mother tells me that when I was born, I came home from the hospital with a rash that newborns sometimes got called impetigo. Despite the fear associated with this contagious disease, my father, who was new to Christian Science, trusted the treatment of the Christian Science practitioner my mother called because he himself had experienced healings. The rash soon disappeared permanently.

In Sunday School I learned the value of putting God first in my life. Later, Christian Science class instruction showed me how to solve problems more confidently by following Christ Jesus' teachings and example.
