Jessica lifts up her face "without spot"
JESSICA had been practicing every day for her piano recital. She didn't mind practicing because playing the piano was something she really loved to do. Every morning and every afternoon she had practiced, and she felt good about what she was to play.
The day of the recital finally came. The big event wasn't until that evening, but Jessica was excited. She set out her favorite blue dress early in the morning. To try to make the day go by faster, she went out to play in the woods behind her house. She didn't notice that she was playing around the poison ivy.
When Jessica finally went into the house again, she happened to look in a mirror and saw a big red blotch on her face. She was so surprised, and then, so sad. "My recital," she whispered to herself. All she could think about was how this was going to ruin her special evening.
