More and more people have begun to search for simplicity and spiritual meaning in their lives. Some have exchanged life in the fast lane for a pace that allows for more time at home with the family. Others have left high-powered jobs and elegant homes for a simpler lifestyle. And still others, particularly in Europe, have chosen to become religious "hermits"—devoting their lives solely to solitude and prayer.

People are finding that when the quest for a simpler life grows out of a desire for less materialism and more spirituality, it accomplishes much good. It clarifies objectives, gives one more control over the direction life takes, and brings one closer to God.
