AN INTERVIEW
Genesis: what it tells us about God and man
More and more, people are finding new meaning in the Bible's book of Genesis. Bill Moyers's public television series on Genesis is just one evidence of a growing desire to understand the Scriptures. Some weeks ago, the Sentinel had an opportunity to talk about this fascinating book of the Bible with Karl (Sandy) Sandberg. Mr. Sandberg holds a Master of Theology degree in Biblical Studies from Boston University, where he specialized in the Old Testament. He served as a military chaplain for ten years, and is both a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science.
Sandy, what specific value can one find in the book of Genesis?
When I think of the book of Genesis, I think of the first chapter and the account of creation that's there. There is another account of creation, of course, starting at chapter 2 with the story of Adam and Eve. But that first chapter is really what I would call the cornerstone of my own faith, my own understanding of God.
