Is it possible to "pray without ceasing"?
"Pray without ceasing," the Apostle Paul counseled (I Thess. 5:17). Once I considered doing this and then decided it was humanly impossible.
Then it occurred to me that Paul was talking about a life dedicated to God. I reasoned that living a life dedicated to Him would mean being moved by His will in every single action. Then I saw that because God is omniactive Life, and the real man is God's spiritual reflection, in truth, my life already fitted this description.
So I concluded that in the degree I consistently identified myself as God's expression, listened for His voice, and obediently followed His directives, I could establish an ongoing communion with Him. This would approximate unceasing prayer.
