The first healing I had, through reading Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, was during my primary school days. Before I left home to attend an Anglican boarding school, my mother handed me a copy of this textbook. She encouraged me to read it while I was away in England.
Once at school I recall the local doctor describing a condition on my feet and hands as multiple verrucas. The doctor had no remedy, and the warts grew in number and size, to the degree that running became uncomfortable for me.
By then I had started reading each night several pages of Science and Health before lights out in the dormitory. It was the "Fruitage" chapter that caught my attention. One morning I noted with wonder how the verrucas had disappeared, leaving only tiny pinholes on both my feet and hands. With just a faint inkling of the teachings of Christian Science, I nonetheless felt a postscript had just been added to the chapter on "Fruitage." I could run again without hindrance, and soon my skin was completely clear.
