I have been a Christian Scientist all my life, and have learned that God and man are infallibly good. I have found that, even in situations of extreme difficulty, the purity of God and His idea remains provable.
About ten years ago a man broke into my apartment and dragged me out of the shower at knifepoint. He raped me, disabled my phone, and left me tied up. When I was able to free myself, I ran to a neighbor's apartment for help. My neighbor called the police, and then I called a friend who is a Christian Science practitioner, asking him to pray for me.
He greeted my shocking news calmly, with a firm, spiritual affirmation of truth: "Nothing like that has ever touched you!" The conviction of God's power and love that lay behind that response was a rock upon which I leaned through the rest of that night and beyond.
