Satisfying the search for spirituality

The past few years have shown a dramatic resurgence of interest in spirituality. That fact is obvious. Clearly there's a hunger for some deeper meaning to life and a genuine inner seeking by millions of people in society to connect with their own spirituality or to discover some divine purpose.

Recently, on the radio program Talk of the Nation, hosted by Ray Suarez and aired on hundreds of stations across the United States, one of the guests reminded listeners of a particularly significant cover of Time magazine. He recalled that, in bold letters, the magazine headline had asked, "Is God Dead?" That cover appeared on newsstands in 1966.

The guest, author Peter Occhiogrosso, then commented that in the late 1960s "... many of us might have thought at the time that religion was going to become less important in the world and we were going to just become increasingly secular and hedonistic and politically oriented." He continued, "However, what's happened seems to be almost the reverse."
