Step inside the open door
What a great promise lies within this Biblical message, received by St. John in a vision: "Behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name" (Rev. 3:8).
This open door signifies the entrance to the kingdom of heaven, and the message sets forth the possibility of reaching it through obedience to God.
In Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, Kingdom of Heaven is described in part as "the reign of harmony in divine Science; the realm of unerring, eternal, and omnipotent Mind" (p. 590). Living in this realm of harmony is not only possible, it is actually required of every one of us—it is God's provision for man. Heaven is not a place of special privilege or reward for a few. Christian Science teaches that it is a divine state of consciousness—the actual and rightful home of the man God created.
