Several years ago I hurt myself; my leg was broken and a sharp object had penetrated deeply into it. A Christian Science nurse cleaned the wound. A statement came to me from the Christian Science textbook: "Bones have only the substance of thought which forms them" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy, p. 423).
I called a Christian Science practitioner. We discussed the fact that bones represent such qualities as substance and foundation. This led me to consider the incorporeal nature and structure of the spiritual man, the only man God made and the only man there is. I read, "As mortals give up the delusion that there is more than one Mind, more than one God, man in God's likeness will appear, and this eternal man will include in that likeness no material element" (ibid., p. 191).
