Rising higher in thought heals
Some years ago a friend and I were walking in a local park. It was a bright, sunny day. My friend had been feeling the pangs of an unhappy relationship and was troubled by a physical ailment. But as we walked our conversation was pleasant, interesting, and constructive. Suddenly, for no apparent reason, my friend became insulting. Immediately I recognized this as the result of his unhappiness and suffering.
I thought, Don't reply. Go higher in thought, in your recognition of God's loving allness. Know the truth about man's perfect, sound nature.
I did just this. I silently affirmed that God's child, the true, spiritual selfhood of everyone, is always gentle, kind, pure, satisfied. Always governed by God, good, and at peace as the expression of Soul. I remained quiet, holding to these powerful truths.
