Six years ago our family had an experience that changed my approach to God. Although I had grown up a Christian Scientist, I had not always relied on prayer; that has been changing. The following convinced me I wished to rely on Christian Science for healing from then on.
While our six-year-old son played in the house with his two younger sisters, out of the tropical sun, my wife and I were working down the back yard. The lad was instructed to call us if we were needed for any reason. When he came running from the house yelling, we weren't at first surprised. But when he could make himself understood, we both ran for the house. Our two-year-old daughter was seriously ill, although she had been fine only thirty minutes earlier.
I reached her first, picked her up, and examined her to see what was wrong. She was ill, but there seemed to be no cause I could find. Then I remembered that God is the only real cause, the only creator, and that I should be praying for my child. I started to repeat to myself all the prayers I knew.
