I was an active member of another Christian denomination before knowing of Christian Science. My initial reaction was one of skepticism, and after a few friendly debates with good friends, I declared that I would read Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy and prove it wrong. By the time I had read it through, I was totally fascinated and felt sure the book had answers to many questions in life. In the twelve years since, Christian Science has become essential in guiding my life.

Shortly before Christmas I was taking a riding lesson, when the horse I was on took fright at a loud noise and bolted. I ended up doing a backward somersault off the horse, landing on my right hip. Almost immediately the word harmony sprang to mind, and I held desperately to what it meant to me.

My horse was caught swiftly, and others came to me to offer assistance. After a short period I attempted to stand up. I was able to walk slowly, and reassured my fellow riders that I would be all right. I booked another lesson after Christmas, and then drove to the home of my in-laws, who were expecting me. On the way I kept praying.
