Mary Baker Eddy not only discovered the Science of Christianity, but also founded a Church which is teaching the eternal truths that Christ Jesus taught and showing their wonderfully practical use today. I am so grateful.

Recently I was reminded of a healing that occurred some years ago, and which has been a beacon to me. The following Wednesday I shared the healing at our church testimony meeting, not knowing how helpful this sharing would be to me a few days later.

About fifteen years ago we were preparing for a trip, when I became extremely uncomfortable with a bladder infection. Before I had become a Christian Scientist, a similar condition had taken a week to yield to medical treatment. I knew this had to be healed much more quickly if I was to take a very long plane trip in the next few days. I communicated my feeling of urgency to a Christian Science practitioner, who reminded me of the directive in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures to "stand porter at the door of thought. Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in bodily results, you will control yourself harmoniously" (p. 392). He then asked me to take a big sheet of paper and list on it, in two columns, my instructions to the "porter"—what to admit and what to refuse to admit.
