It is with deep gratitude that I submit this testimony

It is with deep gratitude that I submit this testimony. I was introduced to Christian Science by my husband, and in hindsight I can see the divine direction that was leading me to the truth. For me, Christian Science has been a way of life, because it totally changed my life.

About twelve years ago I was involved with a man whom I had dated throughout college. The relationship was a stormy one, with many breakups and reunions. During one particularly bad situation, I was feeling extremely low. I had not been to the Christian church of my youth in several years, but felt compelled to seek out some comfort there. Despite the fact that it was evening, I found it open, and crept into the dark sanctuary. I felt like the publican in Jesus' parable, who "would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner" (Luke 18:13). I didn't care what God's plan for me was; I just wanted to be delivered from this troubling relationship. I truly felt that I couldn't do it alone, and thought of the words of Jesus "I can of mine own self do nothing" (John 5:30). I humbly prayed to God, asking Him to help me. After a short while, I felt some relief and went home.

Several months passed before another conflict flared up, and my boyfriend walked out the door. But this time I felt such a surge of self-control that it was as if I had been wakened from a long sleep. The mesmerism that had been controlling me was gone, and I was totally free. It was an indescribable feeling— one I hadn't felt before and haven't since. When my friend and I spoke the next day, I was able to end the relationship easily and without conflict. We even parted friends.
