I Began the serious study of Christian Science as a young mother and I readily embraced the following teaching: "The Christlike understanding of scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Principle and idea,—perfect God and perfect man,—as the basis of thought and demonstration" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 259). It felt wonderful to think of myself as good and pure. This view that God is good and man is His reflection began immediately to transform my life. I was eager to test these new concepts for myself to see if physical healing would occur.

When boiling water was accidentally spilled on my hand, I was quickly healed of pain and redness by trusting in the ideas stated in "the scientific statement of being." I was then attending a branch church regularly, and the desire to become a member healed me of the desire for smoking cigarettes.

Although my husband didn't object to my attending church and enrolling the children in Sunday School, he did not attend himself and would take our children to get medical treatment if he felt this was necessary.
