My appreciation for Christian Science has been too long...

My appreciation for Christian Science has been too long of the inaudible variety—deeply felt but unexpressed in print.

Having been instructed in this religion at home, in Sunday School, in a Christian Science college organization, and in branch church work, I have felt the guidance of its teachings in many aspects of my life. While raising two children, I leaned on God's great love and learned many lessons.

When my high-school-age daughter went for a dental cleaning, she was told that one tooth was horizontal in her gums. This meant that another tooth above could not push out in the normal manner. Surgical steps were recommended, including the removal of several teeth, and possibly the need for braces as well. Our child had had straight, beautiful teeth, and I found myself rejecting this recommendation. I felt confident that trusting in God as the source of all direction and movement would bring about a healing.
