My gratitude for Christian Science has grown so much over...
My gratitude for Christian Science has grown so much over the years. I was born into a family well grounded in its teachings. My mother told me that I was born a blue baby and healed of that condition through prayer. In childhood I experienced many other healings.
While in high school I developed an ingrown toenail. I tried to heal this through my own prayers, but with no success. I asked for help from my parents, but found little relief; I called a practitioner for help, but the problem seemed to be getting worse, and I could not wear any shoe that covered the toe.
After several weeks that saw no improvement, my mother asked me if I felt that I should get medical treatment; I think she detected I had had this thought. Since there had been no progress, I discharged the practitioner and went to a medical clinic, where the doctor examined my toe, gave me a prescription, and outlined a treatment program I was to follow. After several weeks there had been no improvement, and he said he would have to operate.
