Healing quickly but not in haste

The Bible gives two bits of wisdom that look contradictory at first. Christ Jesus says, "Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him" (Matt. 5:25). He goes on to tell us of the unhappy consequences if we don't. We may end up in an imprisoning situation.

On the other hand, we read in the book of Isaiah, "Thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste" (28:16).

We are being told to act quickly but not hastily. Is there a difference? Both quotations have to do with speed. But a more careful study of the words and the intent of the authors of each statements shows a difference that is important in healing the sick.
