Quality of life: the radical difference Christ makes

People are concerned about their standard of living. They don't want to see the quality of life deteriorate for themselves or for their children. But given the giant debt many nations face, crises in health care, and unemployment, many people just hope to hold on to whatever good they have.

Instead of making do with a shortfall of hope, health, opportunity, joy, we should be seeing much fuller good in daily life. Our heavenly Father intends this for all His children. As Christ Jesus said, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10). Shouldn't we learn to look more consistently to God for that which makes life worth living? This is in line with His wishes: "Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else" (Isa. 45:22).

How do we bring God's transforming power to bear on problems? By learning and employing in our lives the spiritual facts of God and man that Christ Jesus showed us. What we need to know to begin experiencing this Christ-power can be found in the Bible's spiritual meaning. Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy helps acquaint us more fully with this message. It explores what the Master saw and proved of God's creation—that man is never other than whole and free, in possession now of God's infinite blessings.
