Can God's child fall? Never!
Late one Saturday afternoon, Adam was playing outside and decided to climb a big tree in the neighbor's yard. Climbing trees was one of his favorite things to do. His mom was in the kitchen starting dinner when she heard a faint cry from outside. She looked out the back door. There was Adam lying on the ground under the tree, and their neighbor was kneeling beside him. The neighbor said Adam had climbed very high, much too high. He had asked Adam to come down. But as he was coming down, he lost his footing and fell to the ground.
Mom went to Adam and quietly talked with him for a few moments. She was also listening to God to know what was true about him as God's child. A thought came to her—"Man is 'upright, whole and free.'" She said this out loud. It was from the third verse of Hymn No. 12 in the Christian Science Hymnal, which reads:
