A short time ago I had an experience I would like to share with you. One morning at work I felt ill and unable to continue working. My reaction to this, based on the facts of Christian Science, was "This can't be true." The illness came at a very inconvenient time, as I had an appointment three quarters of an hour later, followed by a meeting of which I was the secretary and over which I would probably have to preside.
I took a few minutes alone to pray, but that was difficult. The "Daily Prayer" was the first thing that came to mind; it goes: "'Thy kingdom come;' let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love be established in me, and rule out of me all sin; and may Thy Word enrich the affections of all mankind, and govern them!" (Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy, Art. VIII, Sect. 4).
Further, I tried to remember some of what I had learned from reading that week's Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly. At that moment I could vaguely remember a couple of well-known Bible passages, and then I simply trusted that God would help me. After a half-hour I felt refreshed and was again able to do my work, keep the appointment, and attend the meeting.
