Beyond networking—prayer

Progress and joy aren't dependent on personal "connections" but on our relationship to God.

Networking : it's a common term these days, used to describe the effort to develop contacts and exchange information to help attain a personal or career goal. Professionals join clubs to network. Students are encouraged to take classes on how to improve their networking skills so they will get more leads, more clients, better job opportunities. Some people hope networking will increase their prospects for a marriage partner. We hear of "the women's network" and "the old boy network." For some, networking has been helpful. Yet there can also be a great deal of time, energy, and thought expended without success in the attempt to make the right connection.

It's helpful to know that there is a more reliable basis for progress and fulfillment. It is the understanding that because there is only one God, as the Bible teaches, there is really only one Mind. From this fundamental premise we can begin to grasp the true source of communication and recognize what actually governs us.

His wedding date, arranged long ago, was approaching in just a couple of weeks. He and his fiancee were eager to know where they would be located so they could find a home, have an address, telephone number, and all the etceteras that moving their home and her business included.
